Joe Crain is a professional woodworker with experience using several types of design software, including CAD. His project 'nesting tables' shows a good understanding of using SketchList 3D. He wrote in...

"I look forward to working with the new version. I had great success using my trial version on two projects; a set of nesting end tables, and a box seat entry bench. The bench was a project I built last winter and copied for my first try of sketchlist 3D, and I am currently constructing the prototype for the end tables. It was fun to see the tables out of my head and in 3D sketch form. Your videos online were a great help to my getting started. It was great to be generating all of the other paper work while entering measurements, joint and edge treatment information. That ability more than made up for some of the modeling bells and whistles your program lacks. Even though I was unable to see the result of an edge route on the sketch it was great that there was a place in the form to note it.

I've tried a number of other wood working and basic CAD programs, and found sketchlist 3D the easiest to pick up by far, once I understood how to orient boards it was easy to come up with sketches. I miss not having the angle tools of other programs and was unable to attain double taper legs (any hints on shaping two planes of a single board or solutions on the topic would be appreciated!) but over all I am excited by the program and look forward to working out solutions to future commissions with it."

[NOTE: An angle tool will be added by December 1st.]
